From November 9 to 10, the Tibetan Medicine Inheritance, Innovation, and Industry Development Forum was held at the Qinghai Tibetan Culture Museum in Xining, capital city of northwest China's Qinghai Province. The forum's agenda contained keynote speeches, academic reports, comments on the construction of the national key laboratory of Tibetan medicine development, and safety evaluations of Herba Aconiti Tangutici, a common Tibetan medicine material.

Tibetan medicine, which originates from the snowy plateau, is one of the world's four traditional medicine practices. Qinghai is an important birthplace of Tibetan medicine and from where it spread, as it has rich developmental soil and a broad public base. Tibetan medicine in Qinghai is currently made up of a "multi-integration" development pattern of scientific research, treatment, education, industry, and culture. In 2017, the total output value of Tibetan medicine industry in Qinghai reached 2.6 billion yuan (0.37 billion US dollars), accounting for 44 percent of the total output value of the Tibetan medicine industry in China.

Tibetan medicine has its own unique charm, and it needed to be developed in inheritance. On the one hand, it is very important to rescue and collate the existing ancient Tibetan medicine texts and classical medical prescriptions. It is also urgently necessary to carry out the study, inheritance, excavation, collation, and publication of academic concepts and traditional skills of famous Tibetan medicine experts. On the other hand, it is also necessary to strengthen the informatization on Tibetan medicine, create a development model of "Internet + Tibetan medicine" to insert "information wings" for its development, promote Tibetan medicinal services and products to enter the international pharmaceutical and health care markets.
