Tibet receives record number of tourists in first four months

Southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region received a record number of 2.7 million tourists, including 39,900 from overseas, in the first four months of this year, up 63.5 percent year on year.
The region also raked in 3.5 billion yuan (545 million U.S. dollars) in tourism revenue, up 62.8 percent year on year.
From February to April, the regional government offered discounted packages and reduced average hotel and ticket costs to draw more tourists.
The region aims to receive over 30 million tourists in 2020, with revenue over 55 billion yuan.
