Overseas Chinesemedia visit Wenchuan
Representatives from 14 overseas Chinese media in 12 countries including America, Canada, South Africa, France, Italy, and Russia paid a visit to Wenchuan County of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province on May 23rd, witnessing the area’s reconstruction achievement after the earthquake that occurred in 2008.
Ten years ago, the Wenchuan earthquake almost completely flattened Yingxiu Township, the quake center. After 10 years of reconstruction, new homes stood where there were once ruins. All of the residents of Yingxiu Township have moved to safe and beautiful homes, with the new homes laid out in neat rows.
Ten years ago, Hu Xian, the editor-in-chief of a Canadian press, once visited the area with a Canadian interview team. “The old devastated city is gone,”he said.
Hu said he really wanted to see the changes in this area after 10 years.
“The people here have survived the disaster, and the reconstruction and rebuilding is amazing,”he said. And he took a lot of photos during this visit. “I want to show this new look to the overseas Chinese in Canada.”
