45 people are so far confirmed dead, with two others still listed as missing after a tour boat with 105 Chinese citizens onboard capsized off the coast of the island of Phuket on Thursday.

Each of the victims will receive compensation of 1 million Thai Baht, said Pongpanu Svetarundra, Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Ministry Of Tourism and Sports.

The Thai authorities will also provide compensation of up to 500,000 Thai Baht to each of those injured, as well as 20,000 Thai Baht to any of those who need psychological treatment.

Another 20,000 Thai Baht will be paid to each of the passengers whose trip was interrupted by the accident.

The compensation is based on severity of the accident, added Pongpanu Svetarundra.

In terms of the investigation into the capsizing, Thailand's Ministry Of Tourism and Sports is reportedly planning to study if the life jackets on the boat met the quality standards. Further investigation of the company which operated the tour is also underway.
