HANGZHOU, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Ten Chinese police have left China for a joint patrol program in Italy.

The police, all fluent in either Italian or English, will be in the Italian cities of Rome, Milan, Venice, and Prato from Monday until June 17 to offer services for Chinese tourists and Chinese nationals living in Italy.

The Chinese police will join their Italian counterparts in patrols. A hotline will be set up to receive reports or alarms during the joint program.

In 2014, China and Italy agreed to launch the joint patrol program during peak travel seasons.

Chinese authorities said that they hope the program will help guarantee the safety of Chinese tourists and Chinese living abroad, and increase international cooperation.
