Tibet’s GDP for first three quarters exceeds 100 billion yuan

From January to September, Tibet has achieved a regional GDP of 104.403 billion yuan, an increase of 9 percent from that of the same period last year and the region is ranked second in growth rate alongside Guizhou Province, according to Hao Shenglong, deputy director of the Tibet Autonomous Region Statistics Bureau, who said that on the press conference held on November 7.

From January to September, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in Tibet was 25,613 yuan(3686 US dollars), an increase of 9.7 percent. The per capita disposable income of rural residents was 7,138 yuan(1027 US dollars), an increase of 11 percent. The income growth rate of urban and rural residents ranks first in the country, and is significantly higher than the country’s economic growth rate.

Hao Shenglong said that since the beginning of this year, the Tibetan consumer price index (CPI) has had a controlled rise of within 2 percent. From January to September, the total consumer price level of Tibetan residents rose by 1.7 percent compared with last year, 0.4 percentage points lower than the national average.
