Recently, tens of thousands of Qinghai carps traveled a long journey to return to Quanji River of Kangtsa County in Haibei Tibet Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, in order to breed.

Qinghai carp, also known as Huang fish, are indigenous to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and unique to Qinghai Lake. In 2004, the fish was included in “China's Red List of Endangered Species.” Every year, from late May through mid-August, carps grown in the lake would swim upstream into the freshwater area of the river, to lay eggs and breed, before returning to the lake.
