Tibetan Opera Museum begins construction

Currently, the Museum of Tibetan Opera has launched construction on the basis of the existing Tibetan Drama and Art Exhibition Hall.

The program has received an initial investment of five million yuan (729, 597 US dollars) from the Tibet Autonomous Region government, with an area of 1080 sqm and six exhibition areas. The project is slated for completion by March of 2019.

After the museum is completed, it will focus on showcasing the eight traditional kinds of Tibetan opera, including their costumes, masks, audio, video, pictures and text, props, and more. The museum will also be used as a national educational showcase for Tibetan opera.
