Large-scale historical Tibetan opera Songtsen Gampo praised in Lhasa
On the evening of October 24, the large-scale historical Tibetan opera Songtsen Gampo, which was created by the Qinghai Provincial Tibetan Opera Troupe and the Qinghai Province Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe of northwest China's Qinghai Province, performed in Lhasa, capital city of southwest China's Tibet, and was well received by the audience.
The large-scale historical Tibetan opera Songtsen Gampo describes historical events such as Songtsen Gampo's unification of the Tubo Kingdom, the making of Tibetan script, lawmaking, culture development, construction of towns, and an alliance by marriage between the Han and the Tibetans. The music of the opera retains elements of ancient Tibetan opera and also integrates local folk songs, tunes, and dance music, which is the biggest difference from traditional Tibetan opera.
