Dance drama Heavenly Road produced
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Reform and Opening, the National Centre For the Performing Arts has specially created Heavenly Road, an original dance drama, which will premiere on July 1.
Heavenly Road is told from the perspective of Tibetan people and is set against the backdrop of the second phase of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway construction. It tells the moving story of how the railway corps builders and local Tibetans started off as strangers and eventually became friends.
In August 2017, the main writers of Heavenly Road made a trip to Qinghai and Tibet, taking the train from Xining to Golmud, Nagchu, and finally to Lhasa, to experience the natural and cultural features along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway and to experience the difficulties of working on the high plateau, an oxygen-deficient environment. They wanted to integrate everything they saw, felt into the creation of the dance drama through art.
