Tibet helps nearly 300,000 people out of poverty in two years
From 2016 to 2017, the number of impoverished people in Tibet was reduced by 297,000. Thus far, Tibet has reduced its impoverished population to 331,000 people.
In recent years, Tibet has vigorously promoted targeted poverty alleviation through relocating programme, industry development, and Aid Tibet methods. As of the end of June this year, Tibet has constructed 555 resettlement sites and focused on cultivating highland barley, yak, and tourism industries. Since 2016, Tibet has invested a total of 26.344 billion yuan in development-oriented poverty alleviation, implementing 2,069 related projects and completing 1,057 of them, which has directly brought 148,500 people out of poverty. At present, 22 stated-owned central enterprises in Tibet have helped more than 2,300 impoverished households and more than 8,700 people.
