Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge will be open to the public on Oct.23rd, according to the Radio Television Hong Kong.

The bridge's construction began in December 2009 and it was completed in May 2018, with a designed service life of 120 years. It is the longest immersed tube tunnel in the world and the longest bridge crossing tunnel in the world.

Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is the first route that connects these three cities. When it opens to the public, Pearl River Delta will be within Hong Kong's 3-hour commute circle. This will significantly reduce the cost and time of transportation between mainland and Hong Kong, accelerate economic development and links between the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao-Dawan region, and facilitate public exchanges.

The immigration and custom department for the bridge will have separate offices in Hong Kong, Zhuhai and Macao and will be open 24/7 for passengers. A new mode of "cooperative inspection and one-time release" at the Zhuhai and Macao ports has significantly shortened customs clearance times.

It should be noted that the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge adopts the right-hand traffic rules of the Mainland, and change into left-hand rules after the vehicles arrive at the Hong Kong or Macao ports.

There is a toll station in Zhuhai and Macao respectively, where all vehicles are charged. The toll booth has 20 lanes, which can charge automatically through ETC or Hongkong express, or can be paid in cash by Alipay, WeChat and RMB.

The fleet of 200 double-decker and 100 regular buses has been unveiled in Zhuhai City. It takes around 40 minutes to travel the full length of the 43-kilometer-long bridge.
