The recent Bloomberg Businessweek article, claiming spying efforts by China through the implanting chips on products of roughly 30 US companies, is being refuted by the companies involved, including Apple and Amazon, among others.

Apple says it has never found any malicious chips or vulnerabilities purposely implanted in any server, nor has it been contacted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation or any other government agencies about the issue. Apple has also said the same thing in a letter to the US Congress.

At the same time, Amazon.com also says it has not found any problems related with the changing of hardware or the implanting of malicious chips on the company's motherboards. The company also denies reports that it has been cooperating in an investigation with the government on the issue, adding that the Bloomberg Businessweek article is filled with numerous errors.

Responding to the claim that the motherboards of Supermicro produced in China were implanted with backdoored chips, Supermicro says both itself or its customers have never found any offending chips in its products.

US telecom giants AT&T, Sprint and Verizon have also issued similar statements.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has also issued a statement this month, saying that it has no reason to doubt the denials of the companies cited in the Bloomberg Businessweek article.
