149 countries, regions have Confucius Institutes
BEIJING, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- There are a total of 530 Confucius Institutes and 1,113 Confucius Classrooms in 149 countries and regions around the world, according to the Confucius Institute Headquarters during its annual "Open Day."
Over 46,200 full-time and part-time teachers are currently working at various Confucius institutes and classrooms, having educated more than 9 million students to date.
During their "Open Day," the Confucius Institute Headquarters interacted with seven institutes in Asia, Oceania, Africa and Europe via video chat, each displaying their various teaching areas and specialized cultural activities.
The event hosted around 400 people including diplomatic envoys in China, and representatives from foreign cultural institutions and Chinese schools that cooperate with the Confucius Institute.
The "Open Day" of the Confucius Institute has been held every year since 2014.
