On January 14, the front page of the Tibet Daily published an article on Tibet Autonomous region’s 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Term Goals for 2035 (hereafter referred to as the “Planning Proposal”).
According to the “Planning Proposal”, in 2020, the GDP of Tibet exceeded 180 billion yuan, and the per capita GDP exceeded 50,000 yuan, an increase of 52.6 percent and 40 percent respectively since 2015. People’s living standards have been improved in an all-around way. In 2020, the per capita disposable income for urban and rural residents reached 40,777 yuan and 14,583 yuan, which are 1.6 times and 1.8 times that of 2015. The five-year investment in education, health, social security, and employment was 247 billion yuan, which was a 98.3 percent increase from the 12th Five-Year Plan, and a decisive victory was achieved in the fight against poverty, as all 74 impoverished counties and 628,000 impoverished people were lifted out of poverty.
