World's highest astronomical science station opens in Ngari
The world's highest-altitude astronomical science station, the Ngari Observatory and Popularization Science Station, opened on November 27 in Ngari, southwest China's Tibet.
The Ngari Observatory and Popularization Science Station is located in Ngari Prefecture, Tibet and stands at more than 5,000 meters above sea level. There are currently eight telescopes with diameters of 25 cm to 50 cm. As the conditions for astronomical observation here are good, it is an important astronomical observation and scientific research base for China. Relying on the station, Chinese scientists have successfully carried out quantum teleportation experiments with the Mozi satellite, and an original cosmic gravitational wave detection test station is now in construction.
The station is also the world's highest and unique astronomical science education base. The station will also make full use of Internet technology to build an online astronomical science platform. In future, astronomy enthusiasts from all over the world will be able to remotely control the telescope via the platform from their own homes and observe the starry night sky above the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in real time.
