On January 17, the "Fuxing"(Chinese for rejuvenation) high-speed train started its first Spring Festival journey on the "Roof of the World".

"I have been working in Lhasa for 3 years. This is the first time I’ve taken a bullet train back to my hometown. I bought a lot of gifts for my family members and want to spend longer time with them together." Said Dondrup from Mirui Township, Bayi District, Nyingchi City. Loaded with large and small bags, he checked in. "In the past few years, it took me more than half a day to travel between Lhasa and Nyingchi by bus, but now it takes only three and a half hours, which not only saves time, but also is safer." He said.

In June 2021, the 435-kilometer-long Lhasa-Nyingchi railway was put into operation, and the Fuxing high-speed train officially came to Tibet.

Bum Aniu, 23 years old, became one of the first security inspectors at Nyingchi Railway Station after graduating from university in 2021. "Our village is mainly engaged in farming. The young and middle-aged laborers used to work outside all year round as temporary workers, and their income was unstable. After the opening of the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway, many villagers become locally employed." She said.
