As the Qinghai-Tibet Railway extended its service route, the transport between Lhasa-Shigatse in southwest China's Tibet has made the lives of people in both cities easier. It is now possible to live in Lhasa and work in Shigatse or vice versa.
As frequent riders on the Lhasa-Shigatse line, Thubten and his wife both live in Lhasa and work in Shigatse. Every weekend, the couple take the train home with many other "twin cities" riders. The train ride is less than three hours, which is safe, economical, and convenient.
In order to meet more passengers' transportation needs and serve more people, the Qinghai Tibet Railway Group has added more commuter trains, more ticket-selling locations, and more ways to purchase tickets, etc., providing more convenience to these "twin cities" passengers.
