“Decarbonization of the power industry does not mean simply withdrawing from coal power. It is necessary to coordinate the development of traditional power sources and new energy sources to ensure safe and reliable power supply.” Migmar Guoji, a NPC deputy from Tibet Autonomous Region, put forward the suggestion during the “Two sessions”. This year, he focuses on China’s power security in the next ten years.
Migmar Guoji’s duty performance story starts from his childhood.
As a Tibetan child born and raised up in Gyantse County, Shigatse City, electricity is synonymous with the sunshine to him as they both means warmth. In his childhood memory, the villagers relied on burning cow dung and firewood for cooking and heating, and candles or kerosene lamps were used for lighting at night. Therefore, he was determined to help people around him get easier access to electricity. He has worked for the dream ever since.
After working in the Tibet electric power system, he successively engaged in power transmission and transformation, rural power grid distribution network construction, operation and maintenance. Then he was elected as a deputy of the 13th National People’s Congress, and made suggestions for the high-quality development of Tibet’s electric power industry...
From no electricity to having electricity, from long-term power shortage to Tibetan electricity delivered out, Migmar Guoji’s dream has finally come true.
Then, he turned his attention to the development of new energy on the plateau. At the 2021 “Two sessions”, Migmar Guoji put forward a proposal about new energy development and quickly received a reply from the National Energy Administration: In future, great importance will be attached to energy conservation and efficiency, to be specific, guiding power consumption to be more intensive, promoting tclean and efficient development of coal power, improving system adjustment capabilities, promoting healthy and sustainable development of clean energy, accelerating the development of electric energy alternative, and reducing external energy dependence. The suggestion was also adopted in the formulation of the “14th Five-Year” power plan.
Performing his duty as a NPC deputy, Migmar Guoji wishes to illuminate the future of his hometown with clean electricity, and bring longer-term care for the villagers: blue sky, clear water and green ground.
