Rural library enriches residents' cultural life

In 2012, a rural library was established in the north community of Najin Road, Chengguan District, Lhasa City, Tibet Autonomous Region, which aimed to encourage local residents to read to improve their cultural quality. 

On February 14, the reporter came to the library, which is decorated in a simple but fashionable style, filled with a faint scent of books. The library is not large, but has a complete range of about 3,000 books, which are generally divided into literature and art, social sciences, youth books, agricultural technology, laws and regulations, etc., and there are more than 40 kinds of magazines and newspapers.

"The bookstore has been in use for 10 years and has received more than 10,000 readers so far," said Lhamo Tsering, the person in charge of the bookstore. According to him, the bookstore also holds various cultural activities in line with different groups with different education level at irregular intervals, such as reading exchange meetings, knowledge competitions and speech contests to help develop people’s reading habits.
