Tibetan people in the ancient Kongpo area in Nyingchi are shooting whistling arrows. Whistling arrow is a cultural heritage of Tibet with over one thousand years of history. It has a conical wooden head with four holes on each side, and that’s why the arrow whistles as it soars through the air.

It has been a tradition for locals to host archery contests during the Kongpo New Year, which falls on the first day of the tenth month on the Tibetan calendar.
