In the past few days, as temperatures have dropped, flocks of wild whooper swans flew to the Luojia Choekhor River in a small plateau town in Maixi Township, Roige County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, to stay through the winter.
Nearly a hundred swans are foraging and playing freely on the huge lake, soaring in the sky, and chasing around in groups on the lake, depicting a beautiful winter scene of this “swan lake”. The Luojia Choekhor River does not freeze due to the geothermal water, which also creates a good environment for wintering of the whooper swans, a national second-class protected animal.
