Nyingchi-Lhasa section of Sichuan-Tibet Railway expected to open this year
At a press conference on March 24, an official with the Ministry of Transport stated that the Sichuan-Tibet Railway is currently advancing in the construction and operation of different sections.
The Chengdu-Ya’an section of the Sichuan-Tibet Railway opened for operation in December 2018. The Lhasa-Nyingchi section is expected to be put into operation at the end of 2021. The Ya’an-Nyingchi section is about 1,000 kilometers long, and the early stage of construction on “two tunnels and one bridge” started at the end of 2020.
