Ongkor Festival kicks off in Tibet

On August 1, residents in Gazhong village, Gurum Township, Doilungdeqen district, Lhasa started to celebrate the annual Ongkor Festival.  

Ongkor festival is a festival for the Tibetans to celebrate their harvest. The date of the festival is announced according to the changes of the farming season in different regions. 

At 10 am, 34 riders were ready to ride around the field after a blessing ceremony given by their families. They would sing songs, blessing the village and praying for a good harvest.
