In 2018, southwest China's Tibet organized three batches of National People's Congress (NPC) Tibet delegations and three batches of Tibet Autonomous Region People's Congress delegations who visited 13 countries and received five delegations of foreign parliaments, according to official information released on January 13.

In 2018, the NPC Tibet delegation visited France, Denmark, and Lithuania, and made extensive exchanges with representatives, political figures, think tank scholars, local officials, and overseas Chinese from these three countries to talk about social development in Tibet since the Peaceful Liberation more than 60 years ago.

In 2018, Samding Dorje Palmo Dechen Chodron, a female Living Buddha, led a delegation to Nepal and other neighboring countries for the first time to talk about Chinese ethnic and religious policies in Tibet.

Last year, Tibet also welcomed a 13-member delegation from the "US-China Working Group" of the United States House of Representatives and a 17-member friendship delegation consisted of parliament member from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In order to deepen friendly exchanges with the Nepalese Parliament, Tibet invited a delegation of Nepalese Federal Parliament staff and scholars to visit Lhasa and Nyingchi in Tibet and Chengdu in Sichuan Province.

In May 2018, a 35-member delegation from Ukraine consisting of political figures, scholars, and media personnel visited Lhasa and Nyingchi and experienced the modern development of Tibet's culture, education, and economy.

In addition, in 2018, Tibet welcomed more than 270,000 foreign tourists. In order to further promote an open-up policy, Tibet has planned to simplify the application procedures for tourists to enter Tibet and will be introduced as soon as possible. In future, foreign tourists will be able to apply to enter Tibet in cities such as Beijing, Xi'an, and Chengdu.
