Zhaqu Village: happy life after relocation

2020-07-30 16:33:00China Tibet Online

Zhaqu Village is part of Gengzhang Moinba Ethnic Township in Bayi District, Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region. There are 41 households and 177 people in the village. The village, once deep in the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, is now bursting with vigorous rebirth after relocation.

“We lived in the Pailung Moinba Township in the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon in the past. During the rainy season, landslides and mudslides often occurred, and people rarely went out of the canyon.” Villager Dawa Rinchen said. In 2000, the township was relocated in what is now the Bayi District of Gengzhang Moinba Ethnic Township. In 2011, the Dob Hydropower Station was settled in Gengzhang, and people in Zhaqu Village moved again with life becoming better and better. “The construction of the Dob Reservoir made the current village so beautiful. If rural tourism is to be developed, more people will come.”
