Shigatse, a remote border city in SW China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, has removed all its 18 impoverished areas from the poverty list. A total of 169,600 people who were registered as living under the poverty line in 2016 have shaken off poverty, with their per capita disposable income rising to 8,380.22 yuan in 2019, going up by 372.14% compared to 2015.

According to statistics, 70,045 impoverished residents who used to live in rugged mountainous or remote areas with poor infrastructure and living conditions have relocated to 246 newly-built resettlement communities that have a relatively better-developed infrastructure.
