Following the Lugou Bridge Incident in 1937, the Japanese forces launched an invasion into North China and advanced toward Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army conducted an ambush at Pingxingguan, Shanxi Province, achieving the Chinese army’s first major victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45). This battle shattered the myth of Japanese invincibility, eliminated over a thousand enemy troops, significantly bolstered national confidence in the resistance effort, and inspired future generations to uphold their convictions and strive for national rejuvenation.
