The Yunnan snub-nosed monkey, known as the “elves on the snow-covered mountain”, is a national first-class protected animal and an endangered species on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. They are mainly distributed in the alpine primitive forests in the northwest of Yunnan and southeast of Xizang.
