Founded in November, 1950 and located in the western part of Sichuan province, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is the major trade distribution center between Tibet and inland areas and the center of Tea-Horse trade between Sichuan and Tibet.

Daofu County, once the gateway of the ancient Tea-Horse Road, is highly located with rugged roads and sparse population. Garze County, located in the northern part of Garze precture, was once the heart zone of north Kamba area.
