Before being resettled, Chosphel’s family of four lived in Puzhuo Village in Xuesha Township at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters above sea level. They barely made a living by planting one acre of barley. In addition, due to his poor health, the family almost spent all the savings on his medical treatment.

In 2016, the “vegetable basket” base in Lhongzi County was completed. Chosphel took the initiative to sign up to learn new techniques such as vegetable planting and agricultural machinery operation, and his family moved into a new house in the County.

Now, not only does he have a stable income of 5,000 yuan (724 US dollars) per month, his wife also earns a salary of more than 3,000 yuan (434.4 US dollars) a month at the base.

Since 2016, the “vegetable basket” base has adopted the operation model of “company + base + impoverished households”. In the first half of 2020, it achieved an income of 2.6 million yuan (367, 000 US dollars), which has driven 370 poor residents in the local area out of poverty.
