Tibetan female painter’s solo exhibition opens in Lhasa

On February 23, Tibetan female painter Yungdrung Drolma’s solo exhibition opened at the Tibet Yak Museum in Lhasa, capital of Tibet Autonomous Region. A total of more than 80 works of oil paintings, watercolors, colored pencils and Thangka paintings are exhibited, including "Thangka Series" and "Pay Tribute to Picasso".

In 1988, Yungdrung Drolma was born in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan province. In 2014, she graduated from the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and is now a member of the Tibetan Oil Painting Society. She is also one of the few female Thangka painting artists in Lhasa.

Yungdrung Dorlma, who loved painting since childhood, suffered an accidental amputation of her right hand when 10 years old, but this did not dampen her enthusiasm in painting. She began to learn painting with her left hand. After college graduation, she came to the Thangka School of Tenpa Rabten in Tibet to learn Thangka painting.

The exhibition is Yungdrung Dorlma's first solo exhibition, which witnessing her exploration and growth in artistic creation.

Yungdrung Dolma says that she will continue to explore the creation of painting art in future, and she hopes women all can pursue bravely and work hard for their dreams.

The exhibition will last until March 14.
