#The Dragon Boat Festival is an ancient traditional Chinese festival. Dating from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period of China, it has a history of more than 2,000 years. It is the first festival in China to be included in the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

The Dragon Boat Festival (the fifth day of the fifth lunar month) was the festival of driving away the god of plague and offering a sacrifice to the dragon in summer at the beginning. Subsequently, people commemorated the death of Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet from the State of Chu during the Warring States Period at the festival.

There are a lot of traditional customs at the Dragon Boat Festival, including making rice dumplings, racing dragon boats, hanging wormwood, lighting realgar, and wearing perfume satchels. The first thing that comes to many people’s minds is eating rice dumplings. Racing dragon boats is a traditional Chinese folk water sports and entertainment item, and wormwood, realgar, and perfume satchels are used to drive away snakes and insects, poison, and evil spirits to protect people’s health.
