Butter flower shows fingertip skills of monks at Ta’er Monastery

Butter flower, as one of the “Three Uniques of Art” (butter flower, mural and embroidery) in Ta’er Monastery, Qinghai province, was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list in 2006.

Recently, the reporter visited the butter flower producing base of Ta’er Monastery. In the upper and lower gardens, monks are busy making skeletons, molding, and sculpting... Pavilions, birds and beasts made of butter leap above the flower stand, and two buddhas with white face look in a serene demeanor.
