Mangkam, Tibet plans to develop 1,000-year-old salt fields

The 1,000-year-old salt fields in Naxi Ethnic Township in Mangkam County, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region is more than 1,300 years old.

Zhenma Yongzhong, a 55-year-old national inheritor of the well salt drying and manufacturing skill from Naxi Village, has been devoted to her five salt fields so far.

“We have been making salt for generations, and we can’t stop doing it.” There are 3,640 salt fields in the township, which will make efforts to promote cultural tourism, attracting more tourists and increasing people’s income.
