Lhasa River in summer

2021-07-01 17:21:00China Tibet Online

The Lhasa River is like a mirror reflecting the Potala Palace. The Lhasa River, called Gyiqoi in Tibetan, means “Happy River”. It originates in the southern foothills of the Mt. Nyainqentanglha, flows through Lhasa City in the southwest, and joins the Yarlung Tsangpo River in Chushur County.

On weekends and holidays, the citizens of Lhasa drive or walk to the banks and valleys of the Lhasa River, set up tents, go fishing, play in the water, bathe, drink butter tea, and eat various delicacies brought from home. They enjoy the bright sunshine and leisure time of Lhasa.
