
The 2025 Forum on the Development of Xizang, China, is being held in Nyingchi, Xizang, from October 27th to 30th. Themed “Discovering a Beautiful Xizang and Writing a New Chapter on the Plateau”, the event attracted over 400 guests from home and abroad, including state leaders, senior officials, diplomatic envoys, heads of international organizations, scholars, experts, business and industry executives, etc, aiming to pool wisdom for further development of Xizang.

On behalf of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia, Prof. Shahbaz Khan said in his opening remarks that “Xizang’s story is one of transformation. Once among the most remote regions, it now stands connected through modern infrastructure that links even its highest valleys and most distant communities... To encounter beautiful Xizang is to witness the harmony between mountains and humanity, tradition and modernity, science and spirit.”

Ambassador of Timor-Leste to China Loro Horta
Ambassador of Timor-Leste to China Loro Horta delivered his speech on the topic of ecological protection, people’s well being, as well as collaborative actions being taken in the future between the two countries.
“Timor-Leste is willing to walk hand in hand with Xizang, empowering each other through Xizang’s green development experience and Timor-Leste’s ecological practices, to jointly build an ecologically friendly, culturally prosperous, and people-centered future,” the ambassador said at the end of his remarks.
The Forum on the Development of Xizang, China, is an international event focused on showcasing the region’s economic and social achievement and sharing stories of Xizang with the world.
