From the snow-covered plateau to the bank of the Huangpu River, Rinchen Gyaltsten from Xizang started a journey to pursue his dreams in drama and culture at the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
In high school, Rinchen Gyaltsten began to explore the world of drama after encountering a microfilm. He made a firm decision to apply to the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Upon entering the campus, he experienced anxiety due to academic pressures and lifestyle differences. However, a pivotal moment in his journey came with the school’s creative activity themed “Salute to Life.” During this process of writing, directing, and acting in a red-themed Xizang play, he overcame his shyness, embraced self-expression, and developed a profound passion for drama writing and performance.
With its fast-paced lifestyle, abundant resources, and diverse cultures, Shanghai, an international metropolis, offers continuous creative inspiration to Rinchen Gyaltsten. Nevertheless, he remains steadfast in his original intention. He aspires to construct a cultural bridge through his writing and photography.
To Gyaltsten, scripts and images are not merely artistic expressions but conduits for cultural fusion. Through light and shadow, people from different backgrounds can discover each other’s stories and beauty.
