Climbing season for Mt. Qomolangma begins

At the beginning of April each year, Tibet welcomes the Mt. Qomolangma climbing season. Registration for this year’s spring climbing has been concluded on February 28.  

Reporters learned from the Tibet Mountaineering Sports Management Center that they will welcome 469 domestic and international climbers from 33 countries for spring  climbing  this year. The climbers will travel to Mt. Qomolangma, the world’s highest peak, and Mt. Cho Oyu, the sixth highest peak on earth, to mountaineer.  

For this year’s spring mountaineering activities, there are 144 foreign climbers and 13 Chinese climbers(including one member from the China Taiwan) for Mt. Qomolangma, 208 staff from the Nepalese Sherpa Alpine Association, 73 foreign trekkers and camp staff for Mt. Qomolangma Base Camp. As for the Mt. Cho Oyu, there are 17 foreign climbers (including two international mountain guides) and 14 staff from the Nepalese Sherpa Alpine Association.
