On November 23, the Dragon Boat Race Event of the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities of the People’s Republic of China started on Sanya River, Sanya, Hainan Province. The host Hainan team won the first prize of one kind in this event, marking a successful beginning in the Games.

Dragon Boat Race is a traditional Chinese sport activity with a long history. People have constantly enriched its cultural connotations. It is deeply loved by people nationwide, so the Dragon Boat activity has diverse and colorful regional features, such as the dragon canoe of Miao ethnic group in Guizhou and the dragon boat on ice in Northeast China. Currently, there are more than 10 items closely related to Dragon Boat in the Representative List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
