There was a sutra debate examination in the Coqen Hall of Sera Monastery on June 23, which was the summer preexamination for the promotion of monks studying scriptures in Tibetan Buddhism to Geshe Lharampa Degree in 2025 in Xizang Autonomous Region.

Geshe means "intellectual" in Tibetan. Geshe Lharampa is an advanced academic rank of Exotoric Buddhism of the Gelug Sect in Tibetan Buddhism. According to traditional religious conventions, the monks take the summer preexamination for Geshe Lharamba in turns in three major monasteries in Lhasa, which are Ganden Monastery, Drepung Monastery, and Sera Monastery.

From June 23 to June 30, 13 monks participated in the summer preexamination, with 30 members of the committee for the examination and appraisal and more than 580 auditing monks as witnesses.

It is reported that 189 eminent monks in Xizang have obtained the Geshe Lharamba Degree so far.
