Located in Xining, Qinghai, Hongjue Temple is a temple of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism with a history of more than 1,000 years. It originated from the marriage between Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty and Songtsen Gampo of the Tubo Kingdom. It witnessed the history of the Tang-Tubo Ancient Road, the Silk Road, and the Ancient Road of Tea and Horse, standing for national unity. In the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Yongle named it “Hongjue Temple”. It became the preaching place of successive Panchen Lamas in Qinghai in the Qing Dynasty.
