On May 25, 2020, African American George Floyd was killed on the street in Minneapolis after white police officer Derek Chauvin had knelt on his neck for 9 minutes and 29 seconds. Floyd’s death caused a long and large-scale opposition to police brutality and protest against racial discrimination across the United States.
