Recently, we toured the construction site of the Gesar Airport in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province. All construction projects are in-progress, and an all-new air transportation hub for the Tibet and Sichuan region is rising straight from the ground.
The Garze Gesar Airport is located at the junction of the Laima Town in Garze County and Co’a Township in Derge County of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province, with an altitude of 4068 meters. The construction is scheduled to meet an annual passenger capacity of 220 thousand by 2025, and an annual freight capacity of 660 tons. The flight zone will have a grade of 4C, and there will be a new runway of 4000 meters in length and 45 meters in width, as well matching air traffic control, oil supply, fire safety and rescue, and more public facilities.
