Recently, Kazi Township, Lhunzhub County, Lhasa City launched a feeding activity for black-necked cranes.

It is understood that the black-necked crane is a national first-class protected animal, and is the only crane among the 15 species of cranes in the world that lives and breeds on the plateau. It is the messenger of a good wetland ecosystem. From February to the end of March every year, a large number of black-necked cranes migrate to the National Black-necked Crane Reserve in Lhunzhub County to spend the winter, when the food for them is the scarcest every year.

Due to the lack of food, the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of Lhunzhub County has specially set up a number of regular feeding points in Bianjiaolin Township, Qangga Township and other places, and arranged 9 feeders to feed them with highland barley and wheat on a regular basis.

It is understood that about 10,000 kg of food are fed each year, which basically meets the food needs of the existing black-necked cranes. At the same time, a patrol team has also been set up to patrol regularly to escort the black-necked cranes for their safe wintering.
