The main structure of the Nyingchi railway station in Southwest China's Tibet autonomous region was completed Saturday, marking new progress in the construction of a major railway linking regional capital Lhasa and Nyingchi.
The Nyingchi station adopts a design combining both modern and traditional Tibetan architectural styles, according to China Railway Construction Engineering Group, which undertakes the project.
The Lhasa-Nyingchi railway is 435 km long, 75 percent of which are bridges and tunnels. It has a designed speed of 160 km per hour. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2021.
