The Chinese and Japanese co-produced documentary The Thangka Painter’s Hometown was recently rebroadcast on TV via the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation.

The exquisite thangka art in the film and the stories of the young Tibetan people’s endless struggle for self-improvement moved many Japanese audiences. Japanese audiences have given high scores to the documentary on social media and enthusiastically left praise: “My goal is to see the real thangka with my own eyes during my lifetime!” “These young people who don’t lose to the environment or climate and can grow stubbornly with dreams amongst adversity are really amazing.”
