China Thangka art exhibition in Beijing kicks off

It is informed that the “China Fine Thangka Art Exhibition” will be held from November 23 to December 2 at the National Art Museum of China.

The exhibition aims to display the outstanding masterpieces that have emerged from the development of thangka art in recent years; propagate the long history of thangka art, its exquisite and unique painting techniques, and profound cultural connotations; and highlight its unique artistic charm.

The Beijing stop of the “China Fine Thangka Art Exhibition” domestic tour is sponsored by the National Art Foundation’s 2017 annual subsidy project for the propagation and popularization category. The artworks consist of award-winning pieces from previous China International Thangka Art Festivals and embroidered, appliqué embroidered, and inlaid pieces by national intangible cultural heritage inheritors from Tibet Autonomous Region and famous craft masters from Tibet.
