Jiaga Dongzan, located in Zhongsha Township, Gongpo Gyamda County, Nyingchi, southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, currently has more than 4,000 macaque monkeys, the national second class protected animal.

Since the discovery of large groups of macaques in 2003 and after years of protection, their numbers have increased significantly, and their activities at the base of the mountains have become more frequent. Every afternoon from 2 pm to 3 pm, macaque monkeys go downhill leisurely foraging for food with no fear of strangers.
