Highlights of foreign congratulatory messages on PRC's 70th founding anniversary

Leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent congratulatory messages to Chinese President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The following is an edited summary of some of these messages.

Maltese President George Vella said that the bilateral relations between Malta and China are enriched constantly, adding that he is confident that the friendship between the two countries will continue to flourish in the future through cooperation frameworks, such as the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Latvian President Egils Levits said that China has gone through extraordinary economic and social changes in the past 70 years, adding that he believes that China will continue to realize more ambitious goals in the future, and Latvia is ready to participate in and contribute to docking the BRI with interconnectivity strategies in Europe.

Slovak President Zuzana Caputova said that Slovakia and China will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.

The friendship between the two countries has a long history and will continue to grow, she said, adding that she is confident that new progress will be made in bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win.

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said that the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC is a significant moment for China, adding that the Croatian-Chinese friendship and cooperation have been deepening continuously, and the leaders' meeting between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) has strongly boosted bilateral trade and economic cooperation.

Milo Djukanovic, president of Montenegro, said that the traditional friendly relations between Montenegro and China, based on mutual respect, equality and mutual trust, have kept advancing, adding that he believes that bilateral relations will continue to be dynamic.

President of the Dominican Republic Danilo Medina said that after 70 years of hard work, China has realized a high level of development.

The Dominican side is willing to continue to tap potentials of cooperation with China so as to benefit the two peoples, he said.

Bolivian President Juan Evo Morales Ayma said that Bolivia and China have enjoyed fraternal relations and have made constant progress in political mutual trust, economic complementarity and mutual learning.

The Bolivian side is ready to continue to make joint efforts with China to bring benefits to both peoples, the president added.

Cornelius Smith, governor-general of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, said that the Chinese people have made remarkable achievements in economic and social development over the last 70 years, adding that his country looks forward to further strengthening bilateral cooperation with China in various fields.

Fijian President Jioji Konrote said his country highly values the comprehensive strategic partnership with China and supports the Belt and Road Initiative.

He wished China stability and prosperity and Chinese people happiness and good health.

Prime Minister of Solomon Islands Manasseh Sogavare offered the warmest congratulations and the best wishes to Xi and the Chinese people on China's National Day.

He believes that the ties between the two countries will be further strengthened, expecting to work with the Chinese leaders to promote bilateral cooperation to a new high in order to benefit the two countries and the two peoples.

President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Gilbert Houngbo said his fund is ready to deepen cooperation with the Chinese government and supports China's poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

International Federation de Volleyball (FIVB) President Ary S. Graca congratulated the Chinese women volleyball team's big win in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup, saying the FIVB is ready to continue strengthening the good partnership with the Chinese side.
